Admission $8, Instructor Kyle Smith

Spatial Beings is a group movement class designed to increase kinesthetic and proprioceptive awareness through exercising the body and mind.  Through intentional non-judgment, participants are encouraged to meet themselves where they are at as we create more space in our bodies through a mix of light cardio, muscular lengthening, awareness practices, and brief improvisational dance parties.
Kyle Smith is an ACE certified group fitness instructor, as well as a Dance and Psychology student at Portland State University.  Kyle has been a Portland based performer for over five years under the guise of DieAna Dae, and is also the creator of Instagram sensation #emojidrag.

FANTASTIC-ACTION Sunday, August 14 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm

This class is FREE to attend. Water and other drinks and snacks will be provided.

home school is joyous to announce the second session of our first class of second semester: FANTASTIC-ACTION, given by Allie Hankins of Physical Education.

FANTASTIC-ACTION is an ALL-LEVELS movement/embodiment event. We will breathe, vocalize, bounce, sweat, push, rest, DANCE, and work as individuals, partners, and as a group in actions that help us access the pleasure of effort, and all of the ridiculous delights of having a body. Dynamic music buoys us through our fatigue and steers us to an empowering transcendent climax.

Allik Hankins and dancers at FLOCK

Allie Hankins leads dancers in group work at Flock, in N Portland.

Allie Hankins is a Portland-based performer who makes works that toy with the destabilization of persona through uncanny physicality, layered imagery, and a biting wit all while trying to suppress her contentious eagerness to please. Her current collaborators include Physical Education (Lu Yim, keyon gaskin, and Taka Yamamoto), Rachael Dichter (SF), Morgan Ritter, Rose Mackey, and Maggie Heath. Most recently, Hankins has performed with Julien Prévieux (Paris), Morgan Thorson (Minneapolis), Tahni Holt, and Suniti Dernovsek. She has been an Artist in Residence at the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, the Robert Rauschenberg Residency, and the New Expressive Works Residency at Studio 2.
